Tom had a fantastic time in London. He ate all his lunch, he coped with the noise and the hustle and bustle of the metropolis, the long journey there, the underground, everything that could have been an issue wasn’t an issue.
His group had their photo taken outside Downing Street. He threw sticks into the River Thames. They took part in a workshop at the House of Commons, which he keeps calling the “House of Commas”. His party were in the Gallery during the Brexit Debate. The best bit according to him? Watching the sentry guard Buckingham Palace. “He was like a statue!” Thomas loves all things military and that proud and resolute sentry was the Best Thing Ever.
When he got home, he rushed upstairs claiming he was “sticky” (the mind boggles) and collapsed onto his bedroom floor, announcing to his toys that he was back and had had “the most exciting and exhausting day ever”. I’d call that a success. Even better, there have been no tiredness meltdowns in the days since. He really is coping well and I am one proud and grateful mother.
